Everybody is happy, as Keith Bostrom wins prize in Amazing Fall Membership Drive

Look at Keith. Look at Gary. Look at Bryce. Everybody is happy as Keith Bostrom wins Weekly Bingo in the Amazing Fall Membership Drive.

It is easy to understand why Keith is happy. Look at that prize he won. It is the same tool kit that Beagle Properties gives to home buyers as a house warming gift. Having received one of those in the last year, I can tell you, it is a nifty deal.

Bring a guest to a meeting during the Amazing Fall Membership Drive to get an additional Bingo card and add to your chances of being happy just like Keith.

Miss Montana 2018 visited one of our sponsored youth organizations yesterday. Laura Haller brought her positive message to Builders Club members in Sidney Middle School.

During Laura’s year of service as Miss Montana, Laura is working closely with the only Children's Miracle Network Hospital in Montana, Shodair Children's Hospital. She is also advocating for her social impact initiative, Own Your Movement, during her Crown to Classroom Tour. Using narrative and lessons she learned from her life as a professional dancer, pre-medical student, marathon runner, triathlete, small business owner, and world traveler, she hopes to inspire Montana children to get up and get moving so they have the ability to follow their passions in life.

Get up and get moving. What a joyful and constructive message!

Laura says, representing Montana as Miss Montana 2018 is her proudest achievement, and she looks forward to sharing her passion for health and wellness while also advocating for fearlessly living life to its full potential.

That's saying quite a bit when you learn more about her background. Miss Montana 2018, Laura Halter, was born in the beautiful mountains of western Montana. She began her professional dancing career at the age of 18 in the Northwest as a classical ballet dancer. While dancing professionally full-time, she also attended Boise State University on an academic scholarship with aspirations to become a medical doctor for women's health. She graduated cum laude from Boise State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical/Health Sciences and a Minor in Dance. She was then hired as the principal professional dancer with Viking Ocean Cruises, where she had the opportunity to dance and travel to over 30 countries and 5 continents. After spending over a year at sea, Laura competed for the prestigious position of Miss Montana, and won the title of Miss Montana 2018. She recently competed in Miss America and won both a talent and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) scholarship. She is the first Miss Montana to ever receive the STEM scholarship.

Leif Andersen, of the purportedly No. 1 Committee of the Sidney Kiwanis club, said the weekly prizes in the Fall Membership Drive bingo games would be nice, and he did not disappoint.

The winner of the first prize of the drive on October 11, 2018 was Tami Christensen. She beat out John Olson even though he had an added bingo card for bringing a guest. Her prize is a $50 gift certificate to either the Rodiron or the Cattle-ac. Hey, that's not bad!

More weekly prizes will be awarded during the drive, and an Amazing Final Prize will be awarded in Final Bingo. See the post, "Amazing Fall Membership Drive."

Leif Anderson, Membership Committee Chair of the Sidney Kiwanis Club, announced the Amazing Fall Membership Drive at the regular weekly meeting on October 4, 2018.

In recent years we have used a team competition theme, making sport between the Grizzlies, Bobcats, and Mavericks. Leif said this has served us well, but may have run its course.

This years drive features a Bingo and prizes theme. We will play Weekly Bingo at the regular Thursday Noon meetings. To get a weekly Bingo card:
  • attend the meeting; or
  • bring a guest.
More cards means more chances to win weekly prizes.

To play Final Bingo:
  • recruit a new member; or
  • participate / volunteer in a Kiwanis activity such as Apple Sale, Ticket Taking, Meals on Wheels, etc.
The winner of Final Bingo will receive a final amazing prize.
